Harry Potter was born on July 31, 1980 which makes July 31, 2020 Harry’s 40th Birthday!! I know- crazy, right?! Anyway, my niece, Dublin, has been powering through The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook: From Cauldron Cakes to Knickerbocker Glory by Dinah Burcholz, and I got to thinking: What if we made an entire meal for Harry’s Birthday like we did for Be Our Guest? Then, Kyle and I got to thinking how much fun we had doing an entire month of princesses during the start of quarantine, that we decided to do an

♬ Harry Potter – Movie Magic And His Solid Gold Soundtracks
So for each day, we’ll watch one of the movies, make a themed meal (complete with dessert or sweet treat!), and a coordinating cocktail! You can watch the movies along with us and make the coordinating foods + drinks, or use them as inspiration for your own Return to Hogwarts (pop culture challenge beginning September 1, 2020!)

We’ve been working really hard to perfect these recipes so you can re-create them at home and will be releasing the recipes via stories on Instagram in the morning so that you can make them to watch along with the movie if you want!

We’re making sure that the cocktails are something that actually tastes good- you won’t find any sprite in these! They will be well-balanced and not just match the color of the theme, but will also have elements that evoke the meaning of the cocktail name. For example, the “Gryffindor” is made with bourbon, bold & heart warming!
We’re making a cocktail unique to each movie, and will also have a few movies with multiple- like how could we develop a cocktail for Gryffindor and not for the other houses?

The food items will be a combination of items inspired by the parks, the movies & books (I re-listened to them all recently), and the Unofficial Cookbook, and creative ideas that we came up with that just reminded us of the movies! (Any guesses what we’re making for Chamber of Secrets? ha-ha)
Sometimes we’ll be sharing fun activities that you can do along with the movies- for example, coloring along with the colorful characters in Fantastic Beasts is always a good idea!

We’ll be discussing various topics with each movie too- starting with Hogwarts Houses for Sorcerer’s Stone! If you want to learn a little bit about me-check out my latest intro post!
